The Boyd Hauler gets a makeover

Back in 1993 at the height of the sport truck movement Boyd Sr. took on a project for Eddie Van Halen to build him a truck that he could run around in. Eddie wanted a Boyd Coddington built sport truck. So the Chip Foose drawn ‘Boyd Hauler’ was born. The Boyd Hauler featured an LT-1 engine, Corvette independent rear suspension, billet grille, smooth front bumpers and rear roll pan. What added the Van Halen touch were the red paint and asymetrical wheels and graphics that matched the signature Eddie Van Halen Frankenstein Guitar paint scheme.
Well after 16 years the truck has found it’s way over to American Hot Rods in Orange, CA. American Hot Rods is owned by Dwayne Mayer and Bernt Karlson. Dwayne contacted Boyd Jr. to get the wheels updated to a larger 20-inch diameter wheel and newer style guitar inspired graphics. The truck is currently being worked on at American Hot Rods and will be ready to take to the Barret-Jackson auction in Scottsdale next year. Stay tuned for more updates.
